Nymphasia is an old settlement and until the middle of the 20th century it was known as Granitsa. Around that time, families from the village moved to Panagitsa, which until then was a small rural settlement, known by its old name, Gioussi.

Old farmhouse of the village
Quiting its former ame, Granitsa (meaning place with oaks, in Slavic) was named after the Nymphasia spring, which was identified at the foot of Mt Menalon, based on Pausanias' description.

Nymphasia was oriented mainly to animal husbandry and secondarily to agriculture. The water supply of the main neighborhood of the village was provided by the large well and the adjacent fountain Kato Vrysi, while the eastern part of the village went uphill to the Nymphasia spring, which was then called Prosinikos.

The families in the south of the village were supplied by the Vrysoula spring, now neglected. Tho other stone-built fountains, the reconstructed Karydia ("walnut", original construction of 1824) and the Mousgha (1876) are located in the perimeter of the village, on the way towards the monastery of Kernitsa.

Several old, two-story stone-built houses from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century are preserved in the village, while the small school of 1905 is of particular aesthetic value.

Despite its small size, Nymphasia provides sound accommodation and catering options.
