The flora of Mt Chelmos is very rich and includes large number of rare or local endemic species, as well as species with restricted distribution and small populations. Overall, 27 endemic plants of the Peloponnese and 90 Greek endemics have been recorded.

As with the cases of other Greek mountains (Mt Parnassos, Mt Olympos), many of the species which are local endemics or were decribed from here for the first time have names referring directly to Chelmos} or the Mt. Aroania or other local place names, such as the species Alchemilla aroanica, Bolanthus chelmicus, Seseli aroanicum and the violet of Chelmos, Viola chelmea.

The exlcusive endemics of Chelmos are five: Alchemilla aroanica, Corydalis blanda subsp. oxelmannii, Lonicera alpigera subsp. hellenica, Polygala subuniflora and Valeriana crinii subsp. crinii. Other rare species are Globularia stygia, Asperulα arcadiensis, Festuca stygia, Dianthus mercurii, Gallium cylleneum and Hieracium leucocomum.
